Weekly class discussion of reading material…4 in-depth essay relating to an issue or person from the text…an American History Facts notebook and individual timeline…1 debate (either policy or Lincoln-Douglas)…memorization and presentation of the US Presidents and of an important historical document or portion thereof (presented in class)…3 quizzes per semester (1 every 4wks) and a cumulative exam Wk14 of each semester.
Each week, class time will be allotted for completing the week’s Facts notebook and timeline. When preparing for the debate or presentation and researching for an essay, time will also be allotted for students to begin their work. Work required outside of class: weekly reading, studying for quizzes and exams, memorization, additional debate and presentation preparation, and essay research & writing.
